The complete argument list of one handle() call: an input name paired
with that input’s own payload tuple. The union distributes over the map,
which keeps the pair correlated when the caller’s input name is itself a
union — handle(name, payload) with name: "a" | "b" only accepts a
payload that matches the member it is paired with, never a payload from
the other member.
